An Enterprising Bunch

Following the success of Ridegway’s previous companies, ‘Storytellers’ and ‘Datatech’, a new Young Enterprise company, ‘Mamarti’, has been created by Year 10 Business Studies students. This year, Managing Director, Gemma Derbyshire, and her team created original designs which they printed onto mugs and t-shirts. The products were then sold to other Ridgeway students – and they were really in demand. Mamarti mugs have even found their way into the Ridgeway staffroom!

Mamarti have even supported the Year 7 business, Christmas Creations, and with the help of Mr Johnson Eyre made and sold mince pies at the Christmas Concert. Impressive fundraising!

During the regional final at Wallasey Town Hall, Mamarti showed just how talented Ridgeway students are. Despite, once again, being the youngest group in the programme, competing against 6th Form students from across the county, they did themselves proud, with Managing Director, Gemma Derbyshire, winning the ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ award. Considering that this is only the third year that Ridgeway have competed in the competition, her victory is definitely something to be congratulated.
