Out of Africa

During Enterprise Week the whole of Year 8 were given the opportunity to work with a group of artists/performers and musicians from OSUN Arts Foundation. For two whole days, the students experienced the African Culture and Traditions through the Arts.

The OSUN Arts Foundation performed a traditional play which was based on African Myths and Legends that included traditional dress, amazing dance routines and booming music.

This gave our students a chance to experience and to create awareness and an appreciation of different cultures.

Students produced Batik and Tie Dye fabrics as well as clay masks; they learnt how to use the talking drums, dance and storytelling over the two days.

Each workshop offered the opportunity for students to ask questions regarding the African Culture and the background especially Nigeria where the artists, performers and musicians were from.

“Amazing performances and an excellent day had by all!"
