Make Life Fun

…and earn a ton

As part of National Enterprise Week, Year 11 took part in the National Make Your Mark Challenge. The challenge was to ‘Make life fun… and earn a ton’ with students developing their own money making idea.

The idea could be a product to sell, a space, area or a place put to better use, or perhaps even a service that could be provided. Students had less than six hours to complete the challenge which included the following tasks;

  • Stage 1 - Describe your idea on a single page
  • Stage 2 – Produce a money matters document
  • Stage 3 – Outline your competitors on a single page
  • Stage 4 – Present and sell your idea.

New Heys had 35 teams taking part in the National challenge. The winning team was Rachel Black, Denise Collins, Sayeda Khatun and Emma Mailey. Their idea was to produce a Virtual Visual Environment and were successful in representing New Heys at the Regional Finals which took place at Liverpool Football Club on Friday 24th November.

New Heys were awarded £1000 from Enterprise Insight, Liverpool for entering the most teams of any organisation in the Liverpool City Region in the Make Your Mark Challenge 2006. Rachel and Sayeda received the cheque from Sarah Bevan-Fischer, Head of Make Your Mark Campaign Liverpool during a live broadcast on Tony Snell’s show on BBC Radio Merseyside.
